Taurine
An amino acid that's essential for cats — they can't make enough on their own and must get it from their diet. It supports heart muscle function, vision, and reproduction. It's required in AAFCO cat food profiles, and is also beneficial in dog food. A taurine deficiency is a known cause of heart disease (dilated cardiomyopathy) in cats, which is why it's a standard, important addition.
